5 Things to Think About Before Styling Your Bathroom

Home renovations can be fun projects, but anything you do needs careful consideration and planning. One of the most popular home improvement projects people do is remodelling their bathroom. There are loads of benefits to doing this, from making your bathroom a more relaxing place to take a bath to adding value to your property. If you’re thinking about revamping your bathroom, here are just a few things you should think about before you get started.

1. Budget

You might have visions of how you want your dream bathroom to be, but can you afford it? Marble floors or hand-painted tiles will of course look fabulous, but they will also cost a small fortune! It’s important to determine your budget before you start thinking too much about the overall design, otherwise, you might end up disappointed. You’ll have to factor in the cost of all the materials and tools you’ll need for the job if you’re doing it yourself, as well as any labour costs if your hiring professionals to help you.

2. Schedule

Another thing that you need to consider is how long it will take for this project to be completed. If you have another bathroom or shower room in the house this might not be a pressing issue, but you should be mindful about how long your bathroom is going to be out of action. You may well still be able to use it for part of the time, but if you’re having a completely new suite fitted, it will probably be out of action for at least a day or two, depending on how smoothly everything goes.

3. Design

Once you have established how much you can spend, you can then start thinking in-depth about the design. When doing this, think about the layout of the bathroom as well as the colour schemes and material choices you’d like. Are you going for a vintage style? Or perhaps a sleek modern bathroom with some smart-tech features? Although you are styling your bathroom to suit your tastes, you should also think about how well these design choices will age, as well as how palatable they are to others, as this might give you a better chance of selling your house later for a good price. You can see some good examples of various designs at these bathroom suppliers Birmingham.

4. Bathtub or No Bathtub?

If you’re someone who loves a long soak in the bath after a tough day, then this won’t even be something you question. However, if you don’t currently use your bath much, or have limited space in your bathroom, perhaps having a larger walk-in shower would be better? You can get half-sized or three-quarter tubs if you still want the option but are a bit tight on space.

5. Lighting and Ventilation

If you want to have bright lights in your bathroom but reduce your energy cost, consider having LED overhead spotlights put in. You should also think about how well your bathroom is ventilated, especially if there is no window or only a small one. You might need to get a specialist out to fit a new ventilation system if yours is worn-out or isn’t working properly.

Sprucing up your bathroom is a great project to refresh your home and increase its value, just make sure you’re thinking about the things listed above to make sure you’re getting the most out of it.
